Policy

This policy applies to monthly rate determination for children attending licensed family home providers.

  1. Children eligible for full-time authorization and attending a single licensed family home may be authorized for a monthly rate when the child:
    1. Needs care less than five hours on a typical school day;
    2. Does not need more than ten hours of care on school closure days.
    3. Is expected to need care before and after school.

Example:

A consumer works Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am until 6:00 pm. The consumer needs 30 minutes travel each way. The child attends school Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. On a typical school day, the child needs care between 7:00 am and 8:00 am and 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

The child needs a total of four hours of care on typical school days.

On school closure days, the child needs care from 7:00 am-6:30pm. The child needs a total of 11.5 hours of care on school closure days. This child is not authorized for the monthly rate.
