Policy

This policy applies when determining the correct rate to authorize to a licensed provider’s private rate is by the hour, week or month. This policy allows staff to accurately convert the provider’s rate to half-day, full-day or over-time units.

1. When a provider charges an hourly rate, the department authorizes the lesser of the amount following:
   1. For half-day or overtime units:
      1. The provider’s hourly rate multiplied by 5; or
      2. The state rate for half-day units.
   2. For full-day units:
      1. The provider’s hourly rate multiplied by 10; or
      2. The state rate for full-day units.
2. When a provider charges a weekly rate, the department authorizes the lesser amount of the following:
   1. For half-day or overtime units:
      1. The provider’s weekly rate for half-day units divided by the number of days they are open in a week; or
      2. The state rate for half-day units.
   2. For full-day units:
      1. The provider’s weekly rate for full-day units divided by the number of days they are open in a week; or
      2. The state rate for full-day units.
3. When a provider charges a monthly rate, the department authorizes the lesser amount of the following:
   1. For half-day or overtime units:
      1. The provider’s monthly rate for half-day units divided by 22; or
      2. The state rate for half-day units.
   2. For full-day units:
      1. The provider’s monthly rate for full-day units divided by the 22; or
      2. The state rate for full-day units.
