The CAN History Check Portal is an online system for employers and out-of-state agencies to electronically inquire if an individual has a founded finding of child abuse or neglect with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
Every state or agency who receives federal matched funds for child care, foster care or group care must request this information from each state an individual has lived in the last five years to comply with the background check requirement for those programs.
What will this portal do?
- Reduce reliance and time associated with paper forms.
- Facilitate electronic uploading of required documents.
- Receive multiple requests at once.
- Send automatic notifications to the requestor.
- Ability to check on the status of your request.
- Search and view results of previous requests.
