Regional staff members provide aftercare and reentry support services to the families of youth who are releasing from a Juvenile Rehabilitation residential facility. The overarching treatment model used in the community is Functional Family Parole services, or FFP. FFP is modeled after Functional Family Therapy, an evidence-based, strengths focused family intervention.
FFP Counselors work with youth and their family to assist them with a successful reintegration back into their communities.
Due to budget reductions, JR currently provides FFP services to approximately half of the youth who are releasing from a residential facility.
The length of time a youth receives services varies based upon the legal requirements of their offense and some additional risk factor assessments.
Juvenile Rehabilitation is transitioning from three designated regions to six regions to match the DCYF regional organization. We currently function with three Regional Administrators, each with oversight of two regions.
