The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is committed to preventing further involvement in the child welfare system by providing early learning support and resources to the families we serve.
The Office of Tribal Relations has a Tribal Child Welfare Early Learning Navigator (CWELN) who's main goal is to improve the effectiveness of Indian Child Welfare (ICW) case planning by using a culturally sensitive approach to problem-solving and decision-making for tribal children aged birth to 5 and their families.
The Tribal CWELN works with Tribes by sharing information and early learning resources that are culturally relevant. The Tribal CWELN also provides statewide consultation on developmental issues and makes sure that families know what resources are available to them within their local community.
