Child Care Health Benefits

DCYF is pleased to announce changes to the Child Care Health Benefits Program. As a result of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 925 and the State of Washington, Licensed Family Home Child Care Providers may be eligible for health care and dental care benefits beginning July 1, 2021.

You may be eligible for this health insurance benefit if you are a licensed family home child care provider in Washington State who provides care for at least one child whose participation in care was funded by the Working Connections Child Care (WCCC), Seasonal Child Care (SCC), or Child Welfare subsidy program and were paid through the Social Service Payment System (SSPS).

In order to be eligible, you must not have other health insurance coverage, you must complete an enrollment form, and continue to claim your SSPS invoices by the 15th of each month. If eligible, DCYF will deduct a $30 monthly premium from regular child care payments.

Please note that in addition to your SSPS number, a valid social security number (SSN) or nine-digit tax identification number (TIN) is required.

Who Can Get Health Care Coverage?

You may be eligible for health care benefits if you are:

  • Licensed Family Home Child Care Provider

This coverage is for the family child care license holder only and does not cover other family members such as spouses or dependents, or employees of the child care program.

What is the Coverage, and How Does It Work?

The following choices are negotiated through SEIU 925 and are available to you based on your zip code:

  • Health Insurance: KaiserPermanente (KPWA) or Aetna
  • Dental Coverage: Delta Dental of Washington or Willamette Dental

Upon enrollment, DCYF will automatically deduct your $30 premium each month from your SSPS monthly payment.

Do I Meet Eligibility Requirements?

You are eligible to enroll in health benefits if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • You do not have other health insurance coverage
  • You care for children receiving subsidy and claim timely invoices to SSPS
  • You request health care coverage

Request Health Benefits: Enrollment

To enroll, complete the Health Care Coverage Enrollment form.

If you have been covered during the benefit freeze period of July 2020 – June 2021, you do not need to fill out another enrollment form. Contact us to update your personal information at dcyf.healthcare@dcyf.wa.gov or 1-866-201-8343.

Maintain Your Coverage
