Constituent Relations

Constituent Relations provides a fair and courteous process for working through complaints about:

  • Child protection and child welfare cases,
  • Foster home and child care licensing
  • Child care programs
  • Juvenile rehabilitation services.

Constituent Relations staff are able to provide information and education about DCYF programs and policies.

(Constituent Relations does not have any legal jurisdiction in parenting plans, custody issues, or family court matters. Constituent Relations cannot help with child support questions or matters involving DSHS benefits).

Process to Address Concerns

  1. First try to sort out the complaint or concern by talking with the assigned worker or licensor.
  2. If talking with the worker does not lead to a resolution, contact the worker’s supervisor.
  3. If conversation with the supervisor doesn’t fix the complaint or concern, then contact the area administrator.
  4. If none of the above work, contact DCYF Constituent Relations.
