Reverse Matching Adoption Event

April 1, 2021
youth

Families with a home study and a desire to adopt youth ages 12-17 from foster care who are invited to participate in a reverse matching event.

Northwest Adoption Exchange (NWAE) is partnering with DCYF to host an upcoming virtual event that gives youth the chance to browse potential adoptive families’ videos and profiles to select a few families that they’d be interested in learning more about.

What’s the reason for Reverse Matching?
Pre-adoptive families often get to browse youth profiles and choose who they’d like to find out more about, but youth aren’t getting the chance to consider family profiles nearly as often. Reverse Matching is here to flip the script by empowering youth in the early process of identifying their possible adoptive families.

What’s the process?

  • NWAE staff will work virtually with families to create a fun ‘snapshot including a short video
  • Youth will see these family snapshots during the virtual event
  • Youth select up to three families they’d like to learn more about
  • Social workers will reach out to you after the event to let you know if any youth selected your family and to discuss possible paths forward

Interest families should contact Naomi Kolb-Untinen at nkolbuntinen@nwresource.org or 206-812-1980.

Families are encouraged to submit their inquiry by April 9. Future opportunities will be available.
