Concrete Goods

Child Welfare Concrete Goods Program

The Child Welfare Concrete Goods Program is a short-term economic assistance program designed to temporarily ease material hardship experienced by families in Child Welfare programs while connecting them with state and community resources for ongoing support. Concrete Goods include safety items, baby essentials, help with gas, groceries, utlities, hygiene and personal care items, and more.

Families with an open Child Welfare case in CPS-Investigations, CPS-Family Assessment Response (FAR), Family Voluntary Services (FVS), Family Reconciliation Services (FRS), Child Family Welfare Services (CFWS), and Extended Foster Care (EFC) are eligible for assistance when an unmet basic need impacts the safety, well-being, stability, or reunification of a child.

Community-Based Concrete Goods for Low-Income Families

In addition to concrete goods provided through Child Welfare, the Division of Partnership, Prevention, and Services (PPS) also distributes $2 million annually in concrete goods to low-income families through community-based nonprofits. In SFY 2023, DCYF allocated concrete goods funds to 66 community-based organizations serving more than 19,000 families across Washington.
