At the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), we believe that parents are their children’s first and most important teachers. The Parent Advisory Group (PAG) helps share ideas, give feedback, and ask questions that guide the work future of DCYF.
When parents help make decisions, we can create better policies and programs that support the needs of families. The PAG includes 20-25 parents and caregivers of children from before birth through age 25. The group meets online and in-person when funding allows.
PAG members come from many different family backgrounds including:
- Families from rural and urban, or military communities.
- Families who use early learning services.
- Families who do not use receive any services.
- Families with different structures, such as single parents, relative care, foster parents, or blended families.
- Families who have been affected by incarceration.
- Families from different cultural, language, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Families with children who a developmental or special needs.
- Families with experience in child welfare.
